Introduction
The Preakness Volunteer Fire Company 4 was founded in 1924. It is the fourth oldest fire department in Wayne. Altogether, there are five separate fire departments in Wayne. Taken together, all five are referred to as the Wayne Fire Department.
Purpose
Our purpose is for the protection of life and property which range from fire to similar disasters. The Preakness Volunteer Fire Company 4 serves the northeast corner of Wayne Township.We respond to emergency calls 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, in all weather conditions.

As of December 19. 2008 we served our residents by responding to over 658 emergency calls. These calls, as well as our training exercises, amount to over 7,200 volunteer man-hours (not including maintenance of the equipment and the firehouse).
